In 2010 a report showed The American Red Cross spent 25% of donations for the 2010 Haiti earthquake ($125 million) on “its own internal expenses”.
This was far more than the non-profit originally disclosed.

Findings:
The report also shows Red Cross top officials blocking investigators and releasing incomplete information about its Haiti relief program to the public.
Concluding “there are substantial and fundamental concerns about [the Red Cross] as an organization.”
Evidence:
“Red Cross doesn’t make clear what percentage of their dollars will go directly to helping the victims of the storm…”
[NPR Reporter] Chang: Through donations, how much of every dollar goes to relief?
[Red Cross executive] Kieserman: Yeah, I don’t think I know the answer to that any better than the chief fundraiser knows
