For Veterans Day, which was last Friday, it’s important to note that America is failing its veterans in several significant ways, say former acting secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs Peter O’Rourke and former national security adviser to President Trump, Michael Flynn.

“We’re severely undercounting suicides,” O’Rourke said on the “Just the News, No Noise” Veterans Day special. “I believe we’re probably severely undercounting not just homelessness, but the factors that push our veterans into homelessness as well as suicide.”

According to the former acting secretary, the VA needs to work on understanding and reporting factors that lead up to veteran suicide so it can be prevented from happening in the future.

“Instead of just being focused on stopping the act, we need to be focused on stopping those contributing factors that lead a veteran to that ultimate decision, whether that’s moving into their car or trying to find a shelter for them or their family, or both,” O’Rourke said. “We have to find out how we can engage them early on and make sure that there’s other options for them to take.”

Former President Trump’s National Security Adviser Michael Flynn said that America should be ashamed of the number of homeless veterans in the United States.

“We have 55,000 veterans who are homeless,” General Flynn said on the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show. “We should be ashamed of that when we allow five million illegals to come into our country, and we’re giving them hotel rooms, putting them on military bases, we’re taking care of them, giving them credit cards and all that sort of nonsense.”

General Flynn says that the United States needs to be a nation that takes care of its veterans and it’s not right now.

“I want our country to not only ensure that we have a military that is trained, ready, and is set and equipped to be able to fight and win our nation’s wars,” Flynn stated. “The key word there is ‘win.’ I also want our nation to take care of our veterans those men and women who have served in our military.”
