On May 13th and 14th, foreign ministers of Germany, France, Italy, Canada, the U.S., Japan and the U.K. held a meeting in Weissenhaus, on Germany’s Baltic Sea coast, to discuss how to further support Ukraine’s resistance against Russian invasion.

The EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell, Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba and Moldovan foreign minister Nicu Popescu were also invited to attend the meeting as guests. Borrell made the announcement at the meeting that the EU would provide another 500 million euros ($520 million) in military aid for Ukraine to buy heavy weapons in its fight against Russia.

Moreover, the EU planned to seek more ways to impose economic sanctions, isolate Moscow internationally and counter disinformation spread by Russia. On May 14th, G7 foreign ministers issued a joint statement, saying they would never recognize the borders that Russia has attempted to change by military aggression, and they were committed to supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea, and all states.
