“Apparently, two North Africans were waiting for the Spaniard to stab him,” a police source told El Español.
“The man managed to fight back after struggling.”
Witnesses called police, who arrived quickly on the scene and arrested two male suspects from Morocco, aged 23 and 31.
“When the police arrived, they separated those involved and made a tourniquet for the Spanish citizen until the arrival of an ambulance,” a source explained.
Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, he was airlifted to Madrid to undergo reconstructive surgery on his hand.
“The hand was almost amputated and they are going to transfer him to Madrid to reconstruct it,” the police source said.
Some reports indicate that the victim’s girlfriend, who happens to be the ex-wife of one of the suspects, was also been injured in the ambush.
