The Polish website Tysol.pl published an article on March 28 about a report on Ukrainian refugees by the Polish weekly Tygodnik Solidarność. The article describes the humanitarian activities of the New Federal States of China Rescue Team in Poland.

The war in Ukraine is in its second month, and in addition to the region’s first military conflict in decades, it is also the largest refugee crisis since World War II, and one that poses a huge challenge for Poland. By March 28, more than 2.2 million people had crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border, most of whom decided to stay in Poland and wait for the Russian aggression to end.

From March 5 to 19, humanitarian teams from the New Federation of China (NFSC) safely rescued 2,009 people in Ukraine with 39 buses, providing free food, shelter and transportation for the refugees. Importantly, on March 6, the NFSC team transported 96 children with their teachers from Ukraine to Krakow, Poland, and then assisted the children’s charity in transporting them to Barcelona, Spain.

NFSC volunteers set up the largest tent in Medica, providing a total of 7,177 refugees with free food, freshly brewed coffee, blankets, resting places, children’s play areas, and more, so that humanity can flourish even in the midst of war. In the NFSC tents, they try to make the atmosphere feel like a family. Coffee from NFSC can even take refugees away from their pain for a while. In addition, NFSC volunteers organized free flights to Turkey for some Chinese rescued from Ukraine who were afraid to return to China in case the Chinese Communists found out that the people who rescued them were anti-communists.

Tygodnik Solidarność is a Polish weekly magazine. It was launched and published on April 3, 1981 by the Solidarność movement and was banned in the Polish People’s Republic after the declaration of martial law on December 13, 1981 and the thawing of the freeze in 1989. It was legalized in June 1989 after the 1989 Polish legislative elections.
