University of Glasgow study finds an association between discretionary screen time with mortality, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

 

This association increases in those with, “low fitness, low muscle strength or physical activity levels.” (Glasgow)

 

Average screen time for adults is around 11 hours per day (Pursel)

Average screen time for children ages 8 to 10 spend 6 hours per day

Average screen time for children ages 11 to 14 spend 9 hours per day

Average screen time youth ages 15 to 18 spend  7.5 hours per day

 

How to decrease your odds of developing mortality cardiovascular disease and cancer?

 

  • Exercise consistently

Be mindful of how much time your watching T.V. , checking phone, using a computer.
